“Seriously though,” Will barks at his phone while pacing.
“This will be the 7th one, but they all pull out. I’m starting to believe this isn’t really a thing. I need to work. I need money!”
“Listen;” a deeper voice says over the line. “We got the cash upfront already. This will be a real piece of cake. It’ll be the perfect first job for you.”
“Alright,” Will responds cautiously. “I’m listening.”
“There are some requests..”
“Aww, I knew it.” Will says dejected. “What this time? Clean up? Accident?”
“No; weirder.” The voice on the phone says as he chuckles slightly.
“This one requests that you be extra polite until the end. All you have to do is: mind your P’s and Q’s and treat her with respect.”
“Seriously? What’s the deal with this one? Crazy? Murderer?”
“All I know is her money’s good. She gave us 50,000 and whatever we find of value in her house. I have’ta be honest, I haven’t come across this before.”
” I’m sure she’s crazy but she pays good and that’s all that matters; right?”
“Right,” Will says smiling.
“Alright, so we agree. Can you be here in an hour? She seems to be in a hurry.”
“Done.” Will says happily.
He puts his phone in his pocket and walks out of the dark parking lot. The lights of the city bus approach. He flags it down and quickly jumps aboard with a sheepish grin. He moves to the back of the bus and gets comfortable.
A sigh of relief escapes his lips. He finally feels like he’s going forward.
